A short perspective piece by Christian et al. (2006, pdf) discusses
challenges and opportunities of coastal observations. The final recommendations may be worth
considering for the workshop.
The paper by Mazzilli and Christian (2007,
paper, pdf, erratum, pdf)
defines the coast, mostly from a terrestrial observations perspective, and discusses a framework
for sentinel ecosystem sites. Again this may be useful to consider.
